health affects your love life

Ever wonder if your health affects your love life and the types of guys you end up meeting? Why can’t you get that guy you actually want? Have you ever wondered if it is because of your weight / appearance? The answer is YES, your health affects your love life in many ways. Although it may not be the only thing , it is a major part. Unfortunately, people do judge others by their appearance and yes it is normal to do so. The old saying “It’s not what is on the outside, but on the inside that matters” is not realistic. It is BOTH. When you first meet someone you don’t know what is on the inside because you don’t know the person. All you have to go by is what you see. There has to be a physical attraction first.

How Your Health Affects Your Love Life: Sex

Many couples stop having sex for many reasons such as stress, kids, and work hours. Some couples can go without touching each other for months. Others blame being constantly tired and feeling drained to have sex.  Sex however is an important part of a relationship. Sex does a body good. Being intimate helps release stress, it burns calories,  and has many more health benefits.

However, your health plays a pivotal role on getting you in the mood to have sex. Although you may not realize it, but your health affects your love life because when you stop working out you become tired, meaning too exhausted to have sex.  Being on top just seems like too much work. Perhaps you are self-conscious about your love handles or maybe you have just become too lethargic to have sex at all.

Our energy level drops when we are not working out and sex can seem like a chore. Unless your spouse likes you just the way you, it is easy to see how your health affects your love life, which is why you need to start working out. Get up and start moving.

Our bodies change overtime and it is not always because we had children. We get comfortable in a relationship and stop trying to impress our significant other. Men are visual creatures and the way you look will affect his physical attraction towards you. There is no excuse for allowing your health to affect your love life. Stop making excuses and just get up and workout.

How Your Health Affects Your Love Life: Dating

Again men are visual creatures. The first thing men look at is your appearance, which includes your face and body. Maybe that sounds terrible, but the truth is they don’t know you yet so that is all they have. Attraction comes first then an emotional connection. Unless they are attracted to a few extra pounds or they are overweight themselves they will most likely want a girl they find physically attractive. Some men like curves, others skinny or thin, and the rest probably like fit women. No matter what they like, most men don’t like lazy women that just let their bodies go. He doesn’t want to date a couch potato, unless he is also one.

How Your Health Affects Your Love Life: Just Work Out

I used to work with a woman that was in her late 30′s who could never understand why she was still single. She was a successful professional who owned her own business. She was very pretty, owned her own house, and an overall great person. Why was she still single? She had everything going for her. She joined every dating site imaginable. The only men that were attracted to her were men she was absolutely not interested in. Most of the men she had her eyes on were physically fit.

The truth is she was the perfect example of how your health affects your love life.  I never had the heart to tell her that these men were out of her league and not because she was not pretty enough, but because most of these men were looking for women physically fit. Unfortunately, exercise was not on her priority list.  She had every excuse for not working out. She was too tired, she would start next week, and she hated weight lifting. She was allowing her health to affect her love life and didn’t even realize it.

Stop Allowing Your Health to Affect Your Love Life:

1. If you haven’t worked out in long time, start by walking. Find a friend who can come with you. However, don’t just casually walk around the block. Get those arms moving. Try walking at a fast pace for an hour. Walk at least three times the first week. Break it up into Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  On the second week you can introduce jogging into your workout regimen. Start off jogging slowly. If you want you can walk and job. Give yourself goals. For example, run one block and walk fast on the next block. You will eventually be able to jog two blocks.

2. Join a gym with a pool. Swimming is a great workout. Many people don’t realize how their body is capable of changing in a beneficial way simply by swimming. Don’t just chit chat with friends in the pool, go in with a goal in mind. Tell yourself how many laps you will be doing before you go into the pool. If you get tired take small breaks, but make sure you reach your goal.

3. Find a workout buddy. Make sure your workout buddy is serious. They need to be a good influence on you.

4. Once you see your body changing, start buying clothes that make you feel sexy. You will start to like the way you look, which will motivate you to want to continue to work out

5. Take pictures of your progress. This is important. This will allow you to look back at when you first started and will remind you of what you don’t want to go back to.

6. Lastly, GET IT ON with your significant other. Now that you have more energy, show him what he has been missing.

About DearVagina

  1. Words Men Hate to HearMarch 13, 2012, 11:03 pm

[...] 3. After speaking with a few of my male friends, they all agreed that most men hate to hear “Am I Fat.” Don’t ask a man if you are fat, unless you are prepared for his answer. Perhaps he thinks you need to lose a few pounds. If he does think you can afford to lose a little weight, do you really expect him to say that? If you are happy with your body and you are healthy then it shouldn’t matter what he thinks. However, if you are lazy couch potato who never works out then it is time to get off the couch and start working out. It is important to maintain your health while in a relationship, not only will you look more attractive to your partner but the sex is even better. How You Health Affects Your Love Life [...]
